Two for Tuesday: Spreading Positivity

Happy July! Wow.. June flew by! I am linking up with The Teaching Tribune again for Two for Tuesday which means I am setting 2 of my favorite products half off! I created these products last week and I could not be more excited about them. Both products are all about spreading positivity- my favorite theme to talk about .. ever! No matter what the age, students should feel important and loved in the classroom. You have the capability to change their lives!
So, for the next 24 hours...maybe I'll let it go on for a little longer :)... the products will only be $1.50!

(Click on the titles to view the products)

This product includes 20 posters and 6 writing prompts. For next year, I plan on laminating the posters and displaying them on the walls after I introduce each quote. I wanted to include writing prompts because I have seen so many students improve after simple "meditating" exercises. The relaxation techniques might sound crazy at first, but at ANY age, the kids love feeling connecting to themselves. If the writing prompts wouldn't work well for your students, have a journal/scrapbook that they keep to write and draw anything that they are feeling. It's incredible to discover what your students are really thinking about (also adorable in the younger years!)

This product includes 29 pages of writing exercises! It is so important for children to dream about their futures, but realize that it takes hard work to get there- whether they are thinking about the end of the school year or what they want to be when they grow up. This mini unit is designed to be used when teaching about accomplishments, setting goals and thinking about the future. After many writing activities discussing their strengths and goals, students can write a letter to the FUTURE me. Students love this! You will learn so much about your bright students through these exercises.

Continue relaxing during summer vacation and HAPPY SHOPPING!

New Planner = HAPPINESS

I went to Office Depot the other day in the search of a new planner (and of course spending way too much money along the way). So, I was looking through all of the planners, deciding which planner was best for me. I'm sure many can relate, but a planner is SO important! It is something to look at every single day for the entire year. I'm the type of person that likes to see the entire month on one page. Every planner I picked up had something off... Maybe I was just being picky.

A few months ago, I found Susan's incredible planners from her store: Mrs. Dow's Little Owls' Nest and it gave me courage to make my own! -If you haven't looked at her planners, look now! They are all so useful and I'm sure every buyer is obsessed.

I first wrote down exactly what I needed my planner to look like. I wanted every month on one page, a section for new ideas, a section for monthly goals and a section for new products/blog posts.
Then, I started creating! What colors would I like to look at every day? Hmmm... white, green and navy blue! I love the look of simple planners, so I played around with the formatting and color scheme for about 2 hours... thank God for free time during the summer, right?! After perfecting each page, I printed!

I went BACK to Office Depot and asked them to bind the planner. It was quick and cheap! I am so so so happy it! :)

If you're interested in your own simple monthly calendar, it is available now at my TpT store for only $2.00.

We Love Books: A Book All About Louisiana

Happy Tuesday! I'm linking up with Deanna Jump again for my second BOOK TALK TUESDAY! I love reading everyone's posts about their favorites. I'm currently reading The Courage to Teach and I am beyond obsessed with it, BUT I can't talk about that until I finish it.. So far it is incredible. If you're looking for a motivational book to read this summer, start The Courage to Teach now! :)

Today, I'm going to talk about one of my favorite books that is very special to me, Louisiana- What's So Special About You? written by Linda Sale and illustrated by Craig Routh. If there are any teachers out there from Louisiana OR if you are teaching your students about different states, this is the perfect book (about one of the most amazing states--OK maybe I'm a little biased.. ).

This colorful and informational book can be read by children of all ages. The pages are so interactive, which is why I was so drawn towards it. The author and illustrator created this wonderful book to tell the world how special Louisiana is and let me tell you.. They accomplished that goal! They are both natives to Louisiana, like myself, and you can learn about the author/illustrator here!

Now, I'm off to read more book requests from bloggers!

New Products + an AMAZING find!

After non-stop wedding functions last weekend and the first week of summer camp, I have an extremely relaxing weekend at home. And WOW it feels so nice to do nothing! I guess I shouldn't say nothing because I posted 2 new products and revamped one of my best sellers on my TpT store!

During my lazy Saturday, I finished my Music Listening Worksheets and Back to School Bingo! Yay! I realized that my product All About This Smart Cookie needed some revamping and has been on my to-do list for awhile now... CHECK!

While checking up on other blogs and Facebook, I came across T.H.I.S. on the blog PagingFunMums! HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS BEFORE RIGHT NOW?!?! Frozen AND silly putty?? What else could you ask for? I cannot tell you how excited I am to try this out with the kids.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Summer Camp Fun

Well, the beginning of summer camp has officially begun. The students in my class (for this week) are in 4th grade. I'm used to the young kiddos, but I am definitely enjoying this age group! You know what's funny? You would think that once the kids are out of school, they wouldn't even want to LOOK at a worksheet or pencil, but not this group!

We had some downtime Monday and they started "playing school" - so cute. I mentioned that I would gladly bring some activities for them to "give their students" and they jumped right on that idea! I printed my Summer Writing Worksheets and Reading Literature Graphic Organizers: Common Core and they loved them! I attached some of their wonderful work. Make note of the huge red check mark from "their teacher". ;) They were quite entertaining to watch!

I'm so glad I'm getting the hang of blogging before the school year starts back up. This is such a great way to document student work in an appealing way, don't y'all think? Stay tuned for a summer camp update at the end of the week. I'm going to test some new products on them!

My First Book Talk Tuesday

I am linking up with Deanna Jump to talk about books! I have many classroom favorites in my book collection, but my all time favorite has to be:
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by
he concept of cause of effect occurs throughout the entire book! If you give a mouse a cookie, he'll need a straw... and a napkin....and a mirror.... and a broom... the list goes on!

As the mouse is requesting all of these favors, the generous young boy remains patient with the mouse and wants to meet his needs. I think my students enjoy this book so much because they can relate to both the mouse and the young boy.- The mouse can be somewhat of a needy little mouse requesting many things at the same time. On the other hand, the boy cares about this little mouse and wants him to be happy. Many students would relate this back to a family member caring for them. A major point I make with this story is how much the young boy is sharing with the mouse. Once I praise a student for sharing, or "giving his/her mouse friend a cookie", others want to act like the mouse's friend too!

I can't wait for next week's BOOK TALK TUESDAY!
