It's been forever!

WOW! I need to get better about blogging during the year! I'm sorry I've been MIA for quite some time, but I'm back to bloggin'. :) I thought Doodle Bugs Teaching Five for Friday would be the perfect opportunity to catch up on everything that has been going on in my classroom and share some [FREEBIES] with you!

I got to do some spring cleaning on my PINTEREST and update the covers! I felt bad for everyone who was following my at the time because of the constant cover updates.. yikes sorry!

This water cycle activity was so much fun to do with my students. They completely grasped the concept too. It is so simple.
You will need: ziploc bags, sharpies, tape and water annnnnd that's it!
I let each student have a bag, but you can do one for the whole class. Condensation forms in the bag and runs down the side (precipitation). I have also seen teachers put food coloring in the water, which is an awesome idea that I wish we would have done! The students wrote the diagram of the water cycle on their bag. After the water was poured into their bag, we hung them on our window.

Are your students in need of some writing motivation? I 'm always trying to find small ways to make writing more enjoyable for those students who struggle. I came up with this idea as we were covering informative writing where the students had to research different topics. I glued these labels onto folders and gave them to my students for their weekly writing. It keeps them organized and makes them feel like even smarter researchers! You can grab Researcher Labels for FREE! by clicking HERE. I would love to see how you incorporate them in your classroom!

I started uploading JOURNEYS READING SERIES for 2nd Grade supplemental packets! I'm getting myself prepared for next year and hope to help other teachers using this reading curriculum. If you use it, what do you think about it? What do you like? What do you dislike? I can use your comments to help create the supplemental activities. :)

View the packets individually:

Hopefully I will have all of Unit 1 uploaded soon!

Last thing- another FREEEEEEEEBIE! Your students can practice building their own flowers using my Parts of a Flower Freebie from my TPT store! Enjoy!

Whew! I'm happy to be back!

Sunday Spotlight 11.23

Happy Sunday Spotlight and Thanksgiving week! This post will be short and sweet.

Here's how SUNDAY SPOTLIGHT works:

1. Pick a product to spotlight from your TpT store. Put the products on sale for at least 24 hours. The amount in which you discount is completely up to you. Write a description in your blog post about your product(s)! If you have multiple products you'd like to spotlight, go for it! If you want the product to stay on sale for a longer time, go for that too!

2. Pick another TPT-er to spotlight! Post a description of their store, put the link of the store/Facebook/blog/any social media site they use to your post. Encourage your readers to follow the teachers you spotlight and leave feedback! We wouldn't be the great teachers we are if we didn't collaborate, right? ;) -RIGHT! What you share with your readers is up to you and the seller!

3. Linkup below! Make sure to include the link to my blog and the linky logo so everyone can find our discounted products.

* Click and save the images below, add your product image to the Product Spotlight and the logo of the teacher seller you are highlighting to the Teacher Spotlight (I use PowerPoint) and post! *

** Please do not link directly to a TpT product. It should be a BLOG POST HIGHLIGHTING ONE OF YOUR PRODUCTS AND ANOTHER SELLER! *** Have fun! :D

The product I'm spotlight issss...... PROPER NOUN SCAVENGER HUNT! My students loved this activity.  Students become detectives and find the proper nouns that are placed around the classroom! Hurry and purchase this product now because it will only be on sale for 24 hours!

How to Use:
1. Cut out the proper nouns cards and place around your classroom.
2. Sing/Teach the proper noun scavenger hunt song.
3. Explain the rules and sing the song as they begin searching (this will keep them a little quiet!)
4. They each have their own list to record their findings
5. Go over the list with your class as they check over their work.
6. You can send home the “I can find proper nouns at home!”
7. The early finishers can fill out the graphic organizers and come up with their own!

The wonderful TPT seller and teacher I am spotlighting is Hannah from 21st Century Kindergarten ! There are some wonderful SMART board products for you to incorporate in your classroom (and make your life much easier!) Here is a quote from her blog:
I have a true passion for finding ways to bring Kindergarten out of the dark agesand into the 21st Century while still holding on to some basic truths about how young students learn. I believe Kindergarteners today are differentthan they were twenty or even ten years ago and it's myresponsibility to reach them and teach them as they require... with technology, with higher order thinking, and with the entire world in mind!
How awesome is that?! Visit 21st Century Kindergarten here!

Linkup with me and enjoy your turkey week! :D

#TSUitup and Blog Hop

It's time to #TSUitup! Have you heard of the new network, tsu? (Pronounced sue) This is a brand new social network that allows teachers to connect with one another by sharing ideas, quotes, products and more!

I am taking part in a fun blog hop in order to spread the word about the wonderful new social network AND tell you about some of my favorite teaching strategies. OH and did I mention a big giveaway is also involved?! YEP- that's right!

Would you like to be the newest member of tsu? I would love to connect with you! Here's my link to sign up below:

Here is the strategy I want to talk about: Cooperative Learning! The thing about cooperative learning is that the students are working TOGETHER to find answers. How can we teach students when they are arguing with each other constantly?! The answer: it's impossible. We have to make them realize that being ugly to one another will never work and they will never be able to learn in that environment.
With that being said, let's throw out the golden rule: Treat others the way you would like to be treated.

...And let's throw in the PLATINUM rule:
Treat others better than you would like to be treated.

If you need something to reinforce positive behavior with one another, here is a product to use with your class!

Now time for the giveaway! Good luck!

Let the fun begin!

I created this flip book after seeing how confusing some text books made the concept of energy! I was even thinking.... ok WHAT?! Maybe I'm not so science-oriented, but still...
SO, my solution was to simplify some concepts.. Still covering everything, but just not in such an extreme way. The kids loved the books with activities. This booklet will only be $1.75 until Wednesday!

Today I am spotlighting Celeste from The Education Highway! I want to start off by saying- this teacher has gone above and beyond to welcome me into the TPT community! She has taught me the ropes when I had lots of questions about linky parties, pinning parties, giveaways and added me to so many teaching groups. Show her some teacher love by checking out her store and becoming her newest follower!

I hope everyone has a wonderful and positive week!
